what you'll learn

Free To Be Power Yoga's 200 Hour Teacher Training Program is about more than asana, philosophy and public speaking, it's about living Yoga, questioning it, and integrating it into how you lead, teach, and relate to others. From this program, you will receive the required training needed to apply for Registered Yoga Teacher status (RYT 200) with Yoga Alliance. Here is what you will study in the training:

• THE HISTORY OF YOGA, YOGA ETHICS AND YOGA PHILOSOPHY. You'll explore the roots of Yoga beyond asana and the physical practice - diving into its ancient origins, key texts, and the evolution of yoga into modern life.

  • POWERFUL CLASS SEQUENCING AND METHODOLOGY (BAPTISTE YOGA'S JOURNEY INTO POWER). You'll learn how to lead intentional, impactful classes that create a clear physical and emotional journey for your students. Using the Journey Into Power Sequence as a foundation, you'll understand how to build heat, create peak moments, and bring integration and rest. Beyond memorization, you'll develop the confidence to adapt, improvise, and teach with purpose.

  • DETAILED YOGA ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY TRAINING. Go beyond surface-level anatomy and into a functional, practical understanding of how the body moves in yoga. You'll learn about muscles, joints, and systems in a way that directly informs your teaching - helping you cue safely, prevent injury, and support students in building strength, mobility, and awareness.

  • PRINCIPLES OF ALIGNMENT AND ADAPTATIONS FOR EVERY BODY. PYou'll learn how to meet students where they are - whether they're beginners, experienced practitioners, or working with injuries. This includes understanding alignment as a toll (not a rule), offer accessible modifications, and creating an inclusive environment where every body feels seen, supported, and capable.

  • THE ROLE OF SOCIAL JUSTICE IN YOGA. This training recognizes that yoga doesn't exist in a vacuum. You'll explore the role of equity, accessibility, cultural awareness, and responsibility within the yoga space. Learn how to hold space that is inclusive, trauma-aware, and respectful - while examining your own lens as a teacher and leader.

  • PRANAYAMA : BREATH WORK. Discover the power of breath as both a physiological and energetic tool. You'll learn foundational pranayama techniques, how they affect the nervous system, and how to safely incorporate them into classes.

• INTRODUCTION TO HIMALAYAN KRIYA YOGA. You'll be introduced to foundational practices of Kriya Yoga, including breath, awareness and subtle energy work. This will offer a deeper, more meditative dimension to your practice, supporting clarity, focus, and inner connection beyond movement alone.

  • THE POWERFUL ART OF HANDS-ON-ASSISTING. Learn how to use touch as a tool for connection, support, and transformation. You'll develop skills to safely and respectfully assist students, enhance their experience in poses, and deepen trust in the teacher-student relationship - while always honoring consent and autonomy.

  • CHAKRAS : ENERGETIC ANATOMY. Explore the chakras system as a map of energy within the body. You'll learn the qualities, themes, and imbalances associated with each energy center - and how to weave awareness into your teaching to create classes that resonate on a deeper emotional and energetic level.

  • REAL-TIME TEACHING WITH LIVE FEEDBACK AND COACHING. Practice teaching in a supportive, real-world environemnt. You'll receive immediate, constructive feedback to help you grow quickly and authentically. This "in the moment" experience builds confidence, refines your voice, and prepares you to lead with clarity and presence.

  • COMMUNICATION, PUBLIC SPEAKING AND PRESENTATION SKILLS. Teaching yoga is about more than calling out poses and cues. It's about connection. You'll develop the ability to speak clearly, confidently, and authentically in front of a group. You'll learn how to hold attention, tell stories, and create an experience that resonates beyond the mat.

  • SVADAYAYA : SELF STUDY. At the heart of this trainign is YOU. Through journaling, reflection and guided inquiry, you'll explore your patterns, beliefs and inner dialogue. This process fosters growth, self-awareness, and transformation. You won't just become a yoga teacher, you become a more fully expressed version of yourself.

  • THE BUSINESS OF YOGA. Whether you want to teach full-time or integrate yoga into another career, you'll learn the practical side of being a yoga teacher. Topics include building your brand, marketing, insurance, pricing, and creating opportunities that align with your values.
